Per new allegations from a whistleblower, the convicted associate of Jeffrey Epstein, now completing a two-decade sentence for trafficking offenses, is reportedly preparing a commutation application for review by the Trump administration.

Preferential Handling Claimed at Federal Prison

Congressional Democrats on the judicial oversight panel announced that a source provided information indicating Maxwell is working on the commutation application. Additionally, they mentioned she has been receiving special treatment at the federal prison camp in Texas.

Congressman Jamie Raskin, the ranking member on the House judiciary committee, stated in a news release that the facility's chief was assisting the convict with copying, printing, and sending documents to support her bid for clemency.

Specific details of the clemency request remain unknown, the congressman noted.

Alleged Privileges and Custom Arrangements

Raskin states that, per the insider, the prisoner has been given specially prepared food that are “personally delivered” to her living area, and the warden has “personally arranged” exclusive visits for Maxwell and her visitors.

The visits reportedly involve a “special cordoned-off area” for attendees and a variety of food and drinks for her guests.

Those visiting Maxwell were also allowed to carry electronic devices, which Raskin described as an “unprecedented action” given the security risk and potential for unmonitored communications.

In one alleged instance, when phone lines went down for other prisoners, she was provided directions about who she should tell her contacts to contact and how personnel would relay the call to her.

Warden as “Personal Secretary”

The whistleblower further reportedly told House Democrats that when the convict wanted to review and edit documents promptly, she “essentially used” the official as her private aide.

The statement states that Maxwell’s correspondents would send files directly to the warden, who would provide them to the inmate, for her to examine and change and return them to the warden to scan and provide to the original sender.

Extra Benefits Alleged

Further perks reportedly provided to her include time to “play with” a service dog puppy – a benefit typically prohibited – as well as private after-hours access to the prison exercise area.

Her legal counsel has not yet replied to a inquiry regarding the whistleblower’s claims.

In a statement, the presidential office said that it “does not comment” on potential clemency requests.

“As President Trump has stated, pardoning Ghislaine Maxwell is not something he has thought about,” the representative noted.

Context and Developments

Over the weekend, reports surfaced that Maxwell told friends and family in emails from prison that she was “much happier” at the new prison than her former location.

In August, Maxwell was transferred from a low-security prison in Tallahassee, Florida to the minimum-security camp in Texas, where most inmates are incarcerated for financial and non-violent crimes.

This move, which authorities called as exceptional, occurred just days after she was questioned about the Epstein case by the deputy attorney general, the official, who also once acted as Donald Trump's personal lawyer.

That interview came as the administration was facing increasing scrutiny to release more documents related to the Epstein investigation and amid widespread conjecture around Trump's own connections to the disgraced financier and convicted sex offender, who was found deceased in custody in that year while awaiting prosecution on sex-trafficking charges.

Congressional Response

Through the statement, the congressman also revealed that he had sent a letter to the President, requesting explanations about the whistleblower’s allegations, and called on the president to reject Maxwell’s commutation request.

“It would be inappropriate to approve any form of clemency to this adjudicated and remorseless criminal,” Raskin wrote in the letter. “Your Administration should not be providing her with personal amenities, with canine interaction, with government agents attending to her requests, or with any preferential handling or facility benefit at all.”

Raskin requested that Blanche appear for a public congressional hearing to discuss the revelations and also presented several inquiries to the President.

He inquired whether Trump had discussed a potential commutation for Maxwell with Blanche or others, whether he had directed Blanche or anyone else to provide her with the move or favorable and preferential treatment in detention, and whether she, her attorneys, relatives or representatives have made any promises to Trump or his legal team.

The representative requested for a response to the inquiries by 24 November.

In October, the US supreme court declined to hear an petition from the convict on her sex-trafficking conviction.
