The second-hand marketplace Users Voice Displeasure Regarding Sizing Updates
Vinted users have been reacting angrily after an update resulted in listings displaying inaccurate size information.
This online marketplace has revised its size classifications for female and kids' apparel failing to inform all users about the change.
Social Media Response
Many shoppers and sellers are posting online stating that platform listings now display a different size category than originally posted due to the recalibration.
The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with other platforms.
It has advised users to review their products and update the measurements by hand when needed, which has left users frustrated.
Measurement Approach Modifications
Earlier, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter and a range such as S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
User Accounts
A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
A different member, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted featuring size 14 markings were appearing on the platform as measurements 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they will likely be quite upset," she said.
Manual Updates
Another shopper, located in England, stated she felt frustrated because the modification necessitated personal updates the measurements for "each individual item".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she said.
Marketplace Information
The service features exceeding 100 million shoppers, with 18 million British users.
It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time where an unanticipated change within the service has received backlash: last year, the platform withdrew an update regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
